Discover Qassim

One of the 13 administrative regions of Saudi Arabia, Qassim sits right in the heart of the country and is a unique, exciting and wealthy destination for discerning travellers who want to experience the real culture of the country.
It’s the agricultural heart of Saudi Arabia and is surprisingly lush and green. However, if you’re looking for a city break there’s plenty to choose from too, as there are more than 400 towns, cities and Bedouin settlements to explore. With a diverse landscape that ranges from towering sand dunes to oases filled with date palms and a history that pre-dates Islamic Arabia, it’s a complex and fascinating combination of ancient and modern, rural and urban.
Qassim is also the country’s centre for learning and education, with some of the finest science and medicine establishments in the region based here. Sports fans won’t be disappointed either, with plenty of football games on offer that attract passionate crowds of supporters all year round.

Getting around

  • The region is well served with a good quality road network, so the best way to travel is to hire a car.
  • If you’re travelling to archaeological sites you may need an internal travel permit. Bear in mind that some of the more remote locations may be off the main road network, and you will need a 4x4 to cope with the sandy conditions.
  • In the major cities, taxis are plentiful. Settle on a price before you start your journey, or ask your hotel concierge to book your taxi in advance for you.
  • Buses link towns and cities across the region and are clean, air-conditioned and run regular timetables.
